Furniture has long been a hobby of mine and it is now more than 30 years since I first put saw to wood- quite by accident -as an interfering tree had to be felled! and a couple of trips to the saw mill and a few weeks later was the first ever piece of furniture i turned out--A very rustic garden bench!! Thanks in many ways to a Father who inspired in me that passion to create.
From simple pieces i moved on to largerprojects such as designing beds and wardrobes for friends and family.I then experimented with metal and canvas office chairs before moving on to more traditional, heavily ornamented colonial styles, some pieces of which i still own.
Before long i found the more cleaner and more practical lines of modern Scandinavian very appealing. What you see on these pages [a 2 bed flat I recently renovated from scratch] is an effort to combine variuos local light coloured soft woods with more exotic woods such as European Lacewood ,Indonesian Rubber wood,American Beech and Oregon Pine. I found the effects of mixing various natural colours and contrasting grains rather exiting. Rarely do i stain my wood, relying more on the natural colours this magnificiant medium has to offer!!
